Help Needed: HomeFront Food Drive

We are collecting canned goods and other items – low-sugar cereal, shelf-stable milk – to assist hungry families in our area. In order to help feed the 1,000+ households that depend on HomeFront every month for a free food bag, HomeFront is seeking food donations. Please see full post for more information.

Doxology: A Worship Conference

The Capital District is participating in a day of learning around worship. The Doxology: A Worship Conference will take place on Saturday, November 12 from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm at Calvary Korean UMC in East Brunswick. Everyone who serves in worship ministry will come away with practical learning!

Donations Sought for WV Flood Relief Fund

The HUMC took up a special offering for the West Virginia UM Conference Sunday, July 10 to assist with flood relief, but there are still ways to give. In the request that Greater New Jersey Bishop John School sent out to all churches, he noted that “When people hurt, United Methodists help. After Superstorm Sandy, United Methodists from around the world sent donations for our recovery. One of the first and most generous United Methodist conferences to respond with financial gifts and volunteers was the West Virginia Conference. . .

Hopewell UMC Welcomes New Pastor

The congregation of Hopewell United Methodist Church welcomed Rev. Kate Hillis as the new pastor, starting this week. Leaders of the church participated in a welcoming ceremony for Pastor Kate and her husband, Wren Hillis, a Drew Theological student, who is also pursuing ordained ministry. Pastor Kate succeeds Rev. Dr. Ken Robinson, who retired from the Hopewell United Methodist Church in June,

Hopewell Community Closet Open for Summer Fashion Shopping

The Hopewell Community Closet is open for browsing and shopping, every Saturday from 9 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. This outreach is sponsored by the United Methodist Women of Hopewell Methodist Church and donations accepted support UMW missions and outreach. Free will offering or no offering is accepted. Come out and see what’s in the shop!

Church Picnic Planned for August

The church picnic is set for Sunday, August 7 from 12 Noon until 4 p.m., rain or shine. Everyone is invited to enjoy the food, fun and games at the home of Francina and Charles Case. Please RSVP today.
