We are grateful for all God is doing in our lives, our church and our community here in Hopewell. On Sunday, July 2 we celebrated the first anniversary of Pastor Kate Hillis joining us as our Pastor at the Hopewell United Methodist Church, celebrated our ministry together over the past 12 months, and shared our vision for the future.

During our morning worship, we officially launched our new motto (“Hope Starts Here”) and mission statement: “We are a home for people to be transformed by the love of God and grow in mind, body, and spirit.

We pursue this mission by emphasizing four Core Values in our ministries and community:

  • Worship: We desire to encounter God in worship in new, authentic, and transformational ways.
  • Learn: We commit to learn all we can about God and creation from Scripture, history, culture and experience.
  • Serve: We seek to serve the spiritual, physical, and mental needs of people in our community.
  • Love: We extend hands of welcome and radical hospitality as we embrace the uniqueness of all persons.

Paul Bejgrowicz, chair of the Staff/Pastor Relations Committee, reviewed all that has been accomplished in our ministry over the past 12 months:

Pastor Kate Hillis then presented our Five-Year Ministry Vision, which was developed by members of the congregation through a series of Vision Retreats coordinated by the Vital Congregations team. Pastor Kate shares about our vision, and Vital Congregations chairman Rich Miller reviews the mission statement and its importance as a guide in our future ministry.

Afterwards, we had cake!
