Hunger and homelessness are not something happening far away in a foreign land. They are experienced by many in our community and in New Jersey, as an often silent problem.
The Hopewell United Methodist Church will host a fundraising “Empty Bowls” dinner to benefit Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK) on Sunday, January 10 at 4 p.m.- 6 p.m. (Snow date: January 17). Hopewell United Methodist Church (hopewellmethodist.org) is located at 20 Blackwell Avenue, Hopewell Borough.
The event will feature a simple supper of soup, bread, and dessert, and a speaker from TASK who will help the community learn about local hunger and food insecurity.
The event costs $15 per person for the simple supper. Local chefs from Hopewell restaurants and businesses – Brothers Moon, Sweetgrass, Brick Farm Market and Pennington Market are contributing soups and breads.
Also, ceramic bowls from local artists and artisans will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the event and bowl sales will benefit Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK).
RSVP on Hopewell United Methodist Church Facebook Event page. Walk-ins are welcome but the hosts would like to know how many plan to attend. (https://www.facebook.com/HopewellMethodistNJ/)
