Sermon Series: Considering the Fruit of the Spirit

The Hopewell United Methodist Church Pastor Kate Hillis presented sermon series on the Fruit of the Spirit.


On Sunday, September 4, the sermon title was “Do Looks Matter?” and the message was focused on self-control.

On Sunday, July 24, the sermon title was “The Fruit of the Spirit: Peace in Troubled Times.”

Scripture: Matt. 11:28-12:14

Pastor Kate covered where our peace comes from in anxious times and how living in an anxious society, often makes us very anxious people. The pastor will be exploring that anxiety, why the church matters and how it is called to speak peace into our world.

On Sunday, July 17, the sermon title was  “Sowing in Tears – Reaping in Joy.”

Scripture: Galatians 5:22-26, 2 Corinthians 12:1-10

The message focused on another fruit of the spirit, Joy.

On Sunday, July 10, her sermon was titled, “The Fruit of the Spirit; What’s Our State Soil?”

Scripture: Galatians 5:6,13-23

Pastor Kate focused on the first attribute, Love, and that it is the critical foundation for all the other characteristics that make up our common life together.
