The Hopewell UMC members and friends made blankets to go to children in hospitals and shelters through Project Linus on Sunday, Nov. 4, as part of the Hopewell Borough Council of Churches in a “Sunday of Service.”
Formerly known as “The Church Has Left the Building,” the event is intended as a symbolic demonstration of a shared vision of ministry throughout the year to those in need in the Hopewell community and beyond. It is also an open invitation to all Hopewell residents to join with neighbors to reach out to the less fortunate.
Project Linus has donated more than 7 million blankets to children, since 1995.
Other projects included:
- 5K Walk 4 Water at St. Michaels
- Sole Hope Shoe Pattern Cutting Party
- Wagon Train Food Collection
- Making Soup Kits
- Scraping and Painting Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum
Five churches in Hopewell Borough partnered for this event – Hopewell United Methodist Church, Hopewell Presbyterian Church, Calvary Baptist Church, Second Calvary Baptist Church and St. Alphonse Roman Catholic Church.
